How To Fall In Love With Your Dance Partner

Hi everyone!

I hope this video inspires you to dig deeper with your character work in whatever dance (or play/film/tv show) you are currently rehearsing.

I recommend reading Ivana Chubbuck’s book “The Power Of The Actor” – get it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Power-Actor-Ivana-Chubbuck/dp/1592401538/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463524330&sr=8-1&keywords=Power+of+the+actor

She also teaches classes in Los Angeles – I have been lucky to coach with her both privately and in her Master Class. Here is the link to her website: http://www.ivanachubbuck.com/

If you are in New York City, be sure to take class with one of my acting mentors, Mary T. Boyer. She has amazing exercises and tools that can help you go so much further with your acting to create a unique and authentic character. Check out her studio here: http://www.mtbstudio.com/
I mention the play “The Shape Of Things” by Neil LaBute, which was also made into a movie. Read this play, it has a dark twist at the end, and it will make you see things differently – here is a link to get it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Shape-Things-Neil-Labute/dp/088145222X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463524387&sr=8-2&keywords=The+Shape+of+Things
If you want to get your hands on the classic, Oscar-winning film “The Turning Point” which, in my opinion, is still one of the best films made with AUTHENTIC ballet dancing, I think it is still on Netflix, but you can also (you guessed it) find it on Amazon (Baryshnikov dancing and Shirley MacLaine acting – and so many other amazing performances from famous actors and dancers!!): http://www.amazon.com/Turning-Point-Anne-Bancroft/dp/B0006GQMBY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463524415&sr=8-2&keywords=The+Turning+Pointe
Here is a link to the Romeo & Juliet Balcony Scene starring Margot Fonteyn & Rudolf Nureyev: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtBRN5BXt6o
The two clips of my dancing come from my own YouTube Channel –
“Stuck With Me” featuring Clinton Kyles & Georgia Reed
“Giselle” Act I featuring Brian Grant & Georgia Reed
I am so grateful for each and every experience I have had working with a partner in a love scene. To Joe, thanks for being my first official acting partner, I wish you the very best and I hope I didn’t freak you out ☺.
